Your letter

Mr. MacDonald is just going away for two

weeks' leave (it is long overdue and he really must

get away), and he has asked me to send you an acknow-

ledgment of your secret and personal letter of the

4th August about the New Territories.

has crossed the letter which he sent you on the 11th

July in which he told you that the whole question

would be examined here in consultation with other

Departments concerned. This is a difficult time of

year to get everyone together, but we hope to

arrange this interdepartmental discussion now very

shortly. There is nothing more which I can say

for the moment, but all the pros and cons will be
